It is important for readers to understand what is happening in their books, who the characters are and what the theme is. In your response, outline the following: Plot, Setting, Characters, and Universal Theme. Provide evidence to support your thinking from your book.
It's very important to understand and know what is happening in our books. If we dont then we are just reading contiouse words put together in a way to make sence to the reader. The book I'm reading is Bone, By: Jeff Smith. It's a very cool, fun, and enjoyable book for all ages, being a comic it's even better, with the feature of having pictures so that the picture intented to show is captured by the reader. Bone is a great "Brain Candy" book,as my teachers say.
In my book by : Jeff Smith, has a great plot, the series of events that happen are that Bone is trying to get the love of his life Thorn, Bones cousin Phone Bone, is trying to fix a Cow Race, and Old Grandma Ben is trying to warm up for the Cow Race. There are a lot of events but mainly the main Plot, would be that people are trying to do eather evil or good stuff for getting what they want.
The book Bone, has many characters in the story but the most talked about is Bone himself, and his evil gambling unnamed cousin. These to characters share the blood of the family, but both think and beleave diffrently about everything, Bone is sweet, caring and well disciplined in some occasions, if he's ticked off enough he wont stay quiet. He'll respond with the right and well developed argument. He shows he's caring because his friend Thorn a lovely girl, wanted honey. He gets it for her even though he's got a fight with a huge bee in his hands,he strongly took the fight because he loves this Thorn girl. On page 7 through 9 it shows the idea Bone has to getting honey himself, witch was to make a fire and use the smoke to get the bee's out. It didnt work and he ran into a huge Bee, and on page 19 it shows him in pictures all bruised and scratched up saying, " Boy, Oh Boy ... That Bee Put Up A Heck Of A Fight, But I Did It! I Got Some Honey For Thorn ! " witch aviously shows that he won.
He's cousin on the other hand is a nasty gambler, who has a scam of making everyone bet on the Mystery Cow who will run on the Great Cow Race, and while everyone does that he will bet on every year's winner, who's cow belongs to Grandma Ben. Bone's cousin is trying to become rich with all the great stuff the others bet on the fake Mystery Cow, he will of course loose. Because Bone's cousin's friend will be the idiatic moron who will be dressed up as the Mystery Cow. The book shows how demoning Bone's cousin is,on pages 10 through 12 where Bone's cousin says, Wer'e Fxin' Th' Race, Remember?!" witch shows to me he has a plan to make himself asured with money, and great deals.
The setting Of Bone, By: Jeff Smith is in different places. So far up to were im reading it has tooken place at a farm, at a restaurant, at a Spring Fair, and at Grandma Ben's House. Mainly the setting is in a village, near BoneVille, I asume this because on page 1 Thorn says she only had a couple of days to spend with Bone for she had to head back to BoneVille. So up to point it's been in variety of places at a nearby village from BoneVille.
The Universal Theme is very important in every book, but in comics bot so much. I think the book Bone, sends a message about life, and that is to enjoy the company of friends, and that there will always be someone bad in life who you have to sometimes ignore, and sometimes help out. Mainly I would say the universal of the comic book, Bone, is to enjoy the company of other good or bad, because what goes around comes around.
The Book, Bone, is a great book, as I said before. All I have to say now is. Read it, enjoy it, reflect on it.

Indeed it is important to me as a reader that I know how the character expresses themselves by their emotions. It is important to me because it helps me connect to the book and keep me interested enough to keep reading. My book Bone The Great Cow Race by : Jeff Smith. Does a good job expressing the characters emotions through words and pictures. In page 2 chapter one: The Spring Fair. The character Bone felt kind of lost in Thorn's eyes because he admired her beauty. This was shown in the picture with hearts bubbling out of Bones head and a grinning smile on his face. Then the character shows sadness because Thorn started talking about other guys and their cuteness Thorn said," I love it! " At the fair you can get Honey from the Southern end of the valley--- It's Sweeter .... And the boys who sell it are cuter! ", Bone got sad and heart broken because of this, in the picture it had broken hearts popping out his head and a sigh remark on the side and his huge smile turned into a distinguished frown. In this page they showed love and sadness by the way the characters reacted to each others thoughts or opinions on people. Like Thorn having the opinion of how cute the guy behind the honey- booth was and Bone getting sad because she had eyes for someone that was not him.
My book is really cool specialy because of the pictures. The Book Bone: By Jeff Smith is entertaining fun and for any ages. It has a lot of expressions in many ways, By Dress, Talk , Walk , Eat , Sound , Emotions. Etc....

9/13/10 - 9/17/10 Week 4
It is important to use our observations/knowledge of the world around us to understand and make meaning out of what we read. Thinking about your experience with the writing excursion, how much importance does your author place on how two characters in your book dress/look? How do you know this?
The importance of our observations and knowledge of the world is very deep and extremely necessary in a life especially in trying to know what your purpose is and who you are as a person. The book I'm reading, Sold By: Patricia McCormick . Has an author that doesn't really get into detail about how the characters dress, but she does a great job going to detail about the world the characters live in and make you think ' Wow, this person must be pretty poor'' and show how they mistreat their money. Like in page 1 to 2 it talks about the poor lack of roof they have and how with the money the dad makes he buys a vest. I'm only on page 36 and its only been talking about the life of a young poor girl trying to make her life right by working and going to school.
Thinking about my writing excursions and how important I think it is to detail the characters way of dress walk speak etc.. The author up to the page I'm reading hasn't put much interest in how the way the characters dress. So I think the authors view of writing the dialogue and the situations the people are in make you think and get involved in thinking about peoples life in terms of the way they dress. The importance of telling the reader the way people dress is not important because I guess the author has the intention of making you think deeply and make you understanding that some people rather do more important stuff than have a detailed way of dress.

9.10.10 week 3
As readers, we need to be able to look at that is happening in the world around us so that we can make connections to what we are reading. Thinking about the world you live in, what connections can you make to your book.
I'm reading Sold by : Patricia McCormick. The World around me is infinite, with that I mean that anything is happening around the globe good and bad. As I think about the world around me and others. I start to think of how selfish some of us, the people can be. For example a connection I made to the book was that in some country's there are far more important things than beer, and fancy outfits. In my book a young girl saw a thin roof over her head, and saw her dad making money, instead of the dad paying to fix the roof he bought beer, and a jacket for him. Also I realize how lucky some people are for having what they have because even the little things they get should be appreciated because others don't get even that.
Although I'm only on page 9 of my book Sold. It has already shown me that it got to the point, which was a poor girl living in a poor environment. The world around is very difficult because a small amount of us think about how the world needs help and there are little things you can do to help. Also Jobs !. Some of the places around the world that we live in pay you for what you like to do. In the other hand in some places people have to go work doing things other wouldn't imagine of doing. Like prostitution in my book it has a story about that, and the sad thing is she works to pay her family not for her own good. But to give others, what she has earned. The world around us again is very cool, you just have to be aware of certain things, like that you have the choice to work a job and if you don't like it you leave, others have to because they're poor and need money. Like the fact that there's laws that protect us and some that unfortunately don't let us do some stuff. But think about it, sure other people don't have as laws as we do insuring that they can do mostly whatever they want, a very important example to this is the girl who had her ears and nose cut off in Afghanistan. Nobody cared she couldn't do anything about it just to suck it up and keep quiet. But us if something where to happen to us we could get medical help and we can sue that person for every cent they have. Think about it people, we live in a world that thanks to our parents or whom ever. We are in a nation that provides help, not only that but gives a great education, opportunity. Some people don't even make it past the age of 20 because of how harsh other people live like. So don't say my life sucks and stuff because if you don't appreciate the life we have now then you will never get to appreciate it again.

9.3.10 Book Analysys
I am reading The Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chboski
The main character Charlie is well expressed. Charlie is expressed in many ways showing how caring he is, how hes respectfull, and much more interesting and cool intereste's he has. For example Charlie shows how he cares alot about his friend because he gets into a fight that wasnt of his buisness, and even though he got bruised up and all he still didnt back down to defend his friend that he hadnt talked to in a while. Thinking about how the Charlie expresses him self, I started to think how I had a connection with him, I have gotten in many fights to defend my friends and even though I sometimes lost I still tryed my best to keep my friend safe. Also, I have expressed me and how I am in other ways, I love sports there for I know I express myself about sports when I play them constantly and how much I talk about them. Pretty much I express myself by my actions or what I talk about. I also show how Im shy to tell people about the real me and how im afraid to tell people my other part of me.
