Week 4 RR.

After analyzing your main character in a closer manner, you should now be able to compare and contrast that character with the main character from the class read. In an H-chart or in paragraph form, compare and contrast these two characters. Determine which one you identify the most with and why.

The main character of my book Suck It Up by Brian Meehl, is Morning McCobb. The main character of The Wave is Ben Ross. Morning and Ben don’t really compare but more contrast. This is the basic similarities and differences these two characters.

I don’t really think I identify myself with either of these two characters. But, since I’m a supposedly an over achiever I guess there’s no harm in really thinking who that character is that I identify myself with. Here I go, I think Morning could be that person because we are both teenagers, and think outside the box. What I’m trying to say is that were can be identified by our smarts, rater than our looks. Believe me I don’t see my character dressed in skinny jeans and vans. Anyways, were both smart individuals and funny ones as well. Morning loves to laugh and so do I. He can be very Bi-polar like me, for example when I get mad and someone looks at me funny I laugh no matter how pissed off I am and everyone knows I get pretty mad! Morning does that too, and there is an example of that in page 11.

Week 3 4-18 to 4-22

Week 3 RR? - Understanding my character(s)
(Be sure to include quote and page number!!)
You must use at LEAST 2 quotes from the book.
Understanding your character is a good way for you to really get into your book and see from another person's perspective. In your response this week, describe your character. Think about and discuss:
- 1. Your main character's personality
- 2. How they act/behave
- 3. What they look like
- 4. How old they are
- 5. What sort of education do you think that they have
- 6. Who their friends and family are
- 7. What their financial (money) situation is
- 8. and what their job is (if they have one).

My book is called Suck it up by Brian Meehl, and so far I'm really enjoying it. The main character of my book is of course the vampire boy named Morning McCobb. Being a vampire he amazed me, he amazed me because he isn't attached to the personality of vampires I've seen on television. The usual dark, mean, repelling, ignorant type of vampire doesn't fit Morning. Morning is a sweet, kind, responsible, and best of all is a vegetarian 16 year old young adult. I mean young vampire. He prefers to follow the non-human blood role, he drinks his blood light (Flavored water!). He's a fun and smart dude. He always thinks outside the box. Morning doesn't have a family, only the friends that he sees as family. First there's this girl that is like his foster sister, which is always there for him, than Birnam his teacher or leader of the vampire league, then Penny the woman who represents him, finally, there’s Portia, his other half. Not that they are together or anything but there's chemistry between them and they like each other. McCobb doesn't behave out of the ordinary he's always focused on his job and he’s a gentleman over all. There are times when he’s antsy and mad, because of the pressure getting to his head. I know I would go nuts if I was trying to get killed, and had to transform from a boy to many animals, trees, etc. On chapter 26, it talks about this guy named Golpear trying to kill Morning with a croquet stick. To mornings luck him being immortal he survived. On page 185 it reads, “Yeah, it's like our bodies have an invisible finger on the reset button." This meaning if he gets hurt he can simply “reset his button " and have no harm what so ever holding him. Also, on page 204, it quotes, “Morning was dressed in blue jeans and Lycanthrope T-shirt. Although this may not clarify in detail vampire boy's appearance, it gives me a good idea of what he looks like. What I’ve got out of it is that he is tall, black hair and a skinny body, someone casual who doesn’t care how they look as much as I would, he reminds me of Alfredo but without all the whole Mohawk hair style.

Being a vampire, at first I thought Morning didn't have a job, not just any job but the job that has one thing in common to mines. We both work, but don't get money! When I reflected on what type of job my character has, I thought, and came to the idea that his job was to show the world vampires aren't bad people, or animals, or whatever they are. Doing that I don't really think he has an education for studies that I would have, but more like learning the way of a vampire and all they're secrets. Morning's financial situation is a no, because he doesn't have money nor need it. Unless, you call being transported to shows on private jets called wealthy.

I've had some fun with this book, although reading isn't my personal favorite pass time, this book has I don't know, given me reasons to keep reading it until the end. My point is this book is the only reason I even read! Maybe! I like it, maybe I like the silly parts it says that make me laugh, like blood light!

Week 2. 4.8.11

Review the book description found on the back cover of your book. Using the information, and this information alone, construct two alternate titles for the book that appeal to you. Pick one of the two titles and create a catch phrase and movie poster. Describe (using language that will explain what you are talking about so that we can "see" it) the movie poster to sell the new titled novel.

I'm reading Suck it up by Brian Meehl and in all honesty I'm finding it rather hard to answer these questions because I don't have the back cover with me. Luckily, having the Internet I will search for the back cover of my book. Lucky me right?
The back cover of the book is actually already pretty cool, so I'm trying really hard to think of alternative titles, but this is what I've come up with so far:

Alternative title #1 - Limitless love (catch phrase - "1 human,1 vampire, together forever").
Alternative title #2 - The kiss to love (catch phrase - "One kiss changes a vampire's heart").

I can't decide which title I prefer over the other because I like them both. However, I believe that my alternative title #2 would work better, because it goes with what it said in the back cover. The back cover described a kid kissing a girl, but after kissing her his teeth hurt, like if his fangs wanted to come out and suck the girls blood. My new design would look like this : First of all, I would put the title in the top left corner of the cover. It would be a light red color that has a bloody type of font. The first letter in the word love of the title would have blood dripping down the cover, forming the left half of a heart while the the last word of love would do the same but forming the right half of the heart. It would look like if it were stained and couldn't be removed. The background would have a light solemn black color, so that the heart stands out. This will make the heart formed by the word love look like a it is fading into the back ground. In the lower left corner, I would put a picture of a vampires mouth, black lips, pale skin and white teeth. The only thing visual would be the mouth of the vampire. The lips would be smooth looking yet kind of chapped. His mouth would be half open showing all lower teeth of the lips, and the front two teeth, with another teeth aligned left to them. Lastly it would show a beautiful fang, starting fat going down into a sharp edge. All this would fade into the background. Although, it may sound like a simple cover, I prefer it to be this way because I like things simple, but elegant.
