We've been looking and studying how we relate to our characters and the real world around us. Now it's time to put yourself into your character's shoes. Thinking about the main character of your book, consider what you would do in their situation. 1. What would your reactions be? 2. How would you handle the situation? 3. What would you do differently? Be sure to use complete sentences and EVIDENCE to support your thinking.
I am reading The Book Thief by Markus Suzak. The main character of this book is Liesel Meminger, a girl who looses her family, but joins her new family, the Hubbermans, and makes very good friends. Liesel has been in many situations through out the book, I will be setting into her shoes as I talk about the time when Liesel Meminger beat up a kid at school. Pg's 78- 79 it talks about how Liesel Meminger beat the crap out of this guy at school for making fun of her for not being able to read. My reactions to this would be feeling mad, and having the urge to do something to prevent a young lady, from doing unsophisticated stuff a lady wouldn't normally do. I had this reaction because I pictured Liesel as my sister, and I wouldn't let anyone in the world disrespect her, even if it where to be a family member. I know because I have done it before, I yelled at my aunt for telling my sister that she was getting fat. Although I my reaction to Liesel's situation was getting mad, I would have handled the problem differently than by fighting I would have handled it a nit more brusque. I would have simply told the kid in a calm firm voice that I didn't like the way he was treating me, and that jerks like him, should get a life and worry about themselves and not making funny regards about me. Instead of beating up the kid I would have done differently and used the power of words to solve the problem. I would do this so I could let my anger out, with out violence, and it would most likely shut the kid up, and I could continue my life satisfied. There's no stronger thing in the world, than with the power of words.
Sergio,
ReplyDeleteWow, this is clearly the best work you have done on a blog! I am sorry, but my first thought was "did he copy this?" It is just so sophisticated and most sentences are written completely and correctly. How much time did you put into it? Well done.
You make a great connection and use proof - again you challenge yourself by rewording the proof and using page number. I like how you give a reaction as a brother and then show how you would react and handle the situation differently if you were the character.
I copied into a word doc and will email it so you can see some comments. Remember, if you are going to use challenging words (brusque and regards) in a sentence, make sure it makes sense. If you are using a thesaurus, becareful that the words aren't to out of context. Make sure that it is exactly what you want to say.
What did you mean by "continue my life satisfied?" Satisfied with what? Remember - spell checking is crucial!
Grade 9A (Marie heard me get excited and said Good job but spell checking is very helpful - she should know! I am on her all the time too. ;) )
